Eric Messner


Senior Vice President, Business Development

Eric Messner serves as Senior Vice President of Business Development at Paragon Biosciences. In this role he identifies, completes due diligence and integrates new products and companies into the Paragon portfolio. He also advises early stage portfolio companies by developing commercial strategies and operational plans.

Mr. Messner’s previous role at Paragon Biosciences was Senior Vice President of Commercial, where he was part of the team evaluating new business opportunities.

Mr. Messner has had a long and successful career in the biopharmaceutical industry. Formerly, he was Marathon Pharmaceuticals' Vice President of Sales and Marketing, where he led sales, marketing and managed care strategy and execution. Before that, Mr. Messner was CEO of Anagin, which develops drugs for post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury. Mr. Messner also served as General Manager and Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for OPKO Health, where he had commercial responsibility for its renal division and urology laboratory division. Earlier in his career, he was a founder and Vice President of Marketing and Commercial Operations of Proventiv Therapeutics, which was acquired by Cytochroma. At Cytochroma, he was Vice President of Commercial Operations, later Chief Operating Officer and helped lead the sale of Cytochroma to OPKO Health. Mr. Messner also previously held senior marketing roles at Bone Care International and Abbott Laboratories.

Mr. Messner earned his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Miami University.
