Eric Messner

SVP, Business Development

Eric Messner is Chief Executive Officer of Emalex Biosciences and Senior Vice President of Business Development at Paragon Biosciences.
In his dual role, he leads Emalex’s mission to advance transformative therapies for central nervous system disorders while helping to
identify, evaluate, and integrate new companies and products into Paragon’s portfolio.

Mr. Messner brings more than three decades of leadership experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. Before joining Emalex and Paragon, he served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Marathon Pharmaceuticals and as CEO of Anagin. He also held senior commercial roles at OPKO Health, including General Manager and Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

Earlier in his career, he co-founded Proventiv Therapeutics and served as Vice President of Marketing and Commercial Operations. Proventiv was acquired by Cytochroma, where he later became Chief Operating Officer, and helped lead the company’s sale to OPKO Health. He previously marketing leaderhip roles at Bone Care International and Abbott Laboratories.

He earned his MBA from the Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Miami University.

Eric Messner serves as senior vice president of business development at Paragon Biosciences where he identifies opportunities, completes due diligence and integrates new products and companies into the Paragon portfolio. He also advises early-stage portfolio companies by developing commercial strategies and operational plans.

Eric Messner has an extensive, successful career in the biopharmaceutical industry. Formerly, he was vice president of sales and marketing for Marathon Pharmaceuticals.
